Johan is a co-founder of Kahoot!, one of the world’s fastest growing learning brands, used by millions each day in over 180 countries. He was CEO of Kahoot! until fall 2016 and left day to day operations in the spring 2017. Under his leadership Kahoot! grew from a research project to company that capture 1/3rd of US classrooms each month and millions of business users.
Johan is also the Captain of EntrepreneurShip.One, a pay forward platform for the nordic startup community.
Prior to Kahoot! he co-founded We Are Human, a co-creative company that help global brands build longterm value through behavioural design, storytelling and inclusive technology. In addition to working with established brands, the company also partnered with startups and invested in its own IP, including what later became Kahoot!
In 2008, Johan was part of the founding management team of Playgroup, an award-winning creative company working with the likes of Mercedes, BBC, HP and Unilever. He has over a decade’s experience merging creativity and technology, including the innovative MagCom smartphone, backed by Insight Capital Partners and Telenor Venture.
In 2012, he launched The Nordic Connection, an entrepreneurial initiative based out of London's TechCity, with a mission to enable global opportunities and connections for Nordic startups. The iniative resulted in such impact events as the annual OsloXHackney event in London, and helped facilitate the Austin, Hackney, Oslo Creative Cities Alliance.
He is currently an advisor to the innovative shared working space The Trampery in London, Oslo Business Region and a number of startups, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and speaks regularly at events including SLUSH, SXSW, OECD, NOAH & Design Week.
In 2015 Johan was awarded Founder of the Year at the Norwegian Nordic Startup Awards, Digital Leader of the Year by Financial News E24.no and awarded as on of the 100 most influential leaders in EdTech globally.
